Pastor Steve Wilkins gave this sixth installment of the AAPC Class addressing some key things about membership in the local church:

  • Many Christians don't think joining a church is necessary.
  • The Church is the chief instrument in the work of salvation in the world.
  • Though there is specific command to have a formal membership in the church, the teachings of Jesus and the apostles assume such a membership.

This was covered along with the responsibilities and duties of each member.

Pastor Steve Wilkins gave this talk on the why and how of communion at AAPC. Here are some of the points discussed:

1. What the Scripture teaches about the Supper

2. Why we do it weekly

3. Why we sing and talk during it

4. Why use yeasty bread rather than flat, unrisen bread (or that amazing plastic-like wafer stuff)

5. Why we don’t kneel

6. Why we don’t take it in unison

7. Why our baptized children are allowed to partake.
